alliance_2015 Democratic Ownership – Towards Greater Impact on Poverty

Alliance2015: The report focuses on the effect of the Paris Declaration with regard to democratic ownership in aid recipient countries -  based on case studies from four countries. The guiding question is whether civil society is sufficiently involved in the process of developing, implementing and monitoring the development policy on local and national level. Ownership and mutual responsibility are fundamental and important principles in the Paris Declaration, but the implementation seems only to a very limited degree to emphasise a broad participation and involvement in the recipient countries. The report also offers a range of recommendations as to how different actors can react to the development.

The report and an overview of the recommendations

Implementing the Paris declaration: implications for the promotion of women's rights and gender equality

Eldis: This paper analyses the implications for the promotion of women’s rights and gender equality in respect of the Paris Declaration (PD). It analyses the Five Principles of the Paris Declaration, looks at new aid modalities in the PD framework, and evaluates the current PD monitoring and evaluation system from a gender perspective. Finally it offers a range of recommendations of how to strengthen a gender equality dimension in the PD's aid effectiveness agenda. The report

It reviews the United Nations human rights and sport for development and peace framework as well as global and regional policy/normative frameworks on women, gender equality and sports. It examines the ways in which sport serves as a vehicle for gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls, and then focuses on addressing gender inequalities in sport. The last part of this publication draws conclusions and offers recommendations. The report
