Conference on Gendered GovernanceThe Conference on Gendered Governance was held by Gendernet the 30 September and 1 October 2009 and offered two days of inspiration, new knowledge and insight on gender & governance. The conference was a great success and Gendernet would like to thank all the participants; especially case presenters, keynotes, facilitators and speakers that all provided an enormous effort.
Gendered GovernanceFew contest that good and democratic governance is pivotal to the development of societies that are inclusive, just and responsive to the needs and interests of their people. Following the same line of thought, gender inequalities are also naturally considered incompatible. Therefore, there exists a logical need to address theseinequalities when working with governance. Why then, do there exist so many barriers and difficulties when combining gender development and democratic governance?
